City of Lubbock Engineering is dedicated to the responsible stewardship of development and infrastructure growth in Lubbock. Our core values of outstanding service, effective teamwork, continuous improvement and community involvement guide us in all we do.
Services Provided
Capital Improvement Projects
- Manage the planning, design, and construction of public infrastructure including roadways, water distribution, water treatment, wastewater design, and drainage improvements. These projects are funded and contracted by the City government.
Development Engineering
- Design and construct major and minor infrastructure projects, while administering the policies and procedures established for proposed developments throughout the city. This department is primarily involved in the design review and construction inspection of the engineering components of private development projects.
Right of Way
- Oversee management and activities pertaining to right-of-way (ROW) such as street and alley use licenses, ROW acquisition, easements, utility permits and inspections, and property leases. This department also coordinates the buying and selling of City owned facilities.
Inspection Services
- Protect water quality and preexisting infrastructure while holding the contractor to the highest accountability for the finished product, while adopting a preemptive strategy to limit the conflict between citizens and contractors. Stormwater Compliance
- Protect public health and safety through stormwater management by working to reduce the risk of flooding, improve the overall drainage system, and preserve the water quality in playa lakes, groundwater, and tributaries to the Brazos River.
