For over 40 years Monterey Optimist Basketball has served as an integral part of basketball on the South Plains. Monterey Optimist Basketball (MOB) was established in 1971 under the initial sponsorship and oversight of the Monterey Optimist Club through the contribution of a $500 endowment. MOB has since sprung from those humble beginnings to provide a basketball venue to approximately 900 boys and girls each year
