City of Lubbock Water Department is pleased to announce that on Tuesday, July 16, 2019, Mayor Pro Tem Jeff Griffith will designate the month of July as Smart Irrigation Month.

WHAT: Mayor Pro Tem Jeff Griffith Proclaiming July as Smart Irrigation Month

WHEN: Tuesday, July 16, 1:30 p.m.

WHERE: City of Lubbock Water Department, Water Demonstration Garden 406 Municipal Drive

The Smart Irrigation Month acknowledgement will encourage Lubbock residents to identify the importance of conserving water and to adopt smart irrigation practices. Traditionally, the month of July is when irrigation systems are set to use the most water. It is an appropriate time to remind people to be water-wise with their home lawns and business landscaping.

The goal of the Water Demonstration Garden is to exhibit and empower citizens to make well informed choices on resource conservation, and environmental protection. The garden utilizes innovative water saving techniques with a variety of water-wise plants, to smart irrigation from underground drip lines, to planning and design with a 1200-gallon rain harvesting system. Representing examples of eco-friendly beautifying landscape by creating sustainable outdoor spaces, we are reducing our overall city wide water consumption.
