Central Business District Tax Increment Financing (TIF) Reinvestment Zone
Purpose of the board is to encourage the development and redevelopment within the Central Business District. Board recommends projects to be financed by the district with the approval of the City Council. The board consists of nine members, including representatives of each of the taxing jurisdictions levying taxes in the area (Lubbock County, Lubbock County Hospital District, High Plains Underground Water Conservation District and Lubbock Independent School District). Five members are appointed by the City Council, one of whom serves as Chairman. Board members must be at least 18 years of age and owners of real property in the TIF Zone. Two-year term. Meets quarterly or as needed.
