98th Street Paving Project - Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

The City of Lubbock will host a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, August 17 at 1:00 p.m. at the Southwest corner of Quincy Avenue and 98th Street, to celebrate the completion of the 98th Street Paving Project and the opening of that thoroughfare.

The 98th Street Paving Project began February 21, 2018, and the paving of the roadway on 98th Street between Milwaukee Avenue and Upland Avenue was completed this week. This ribbon cutting ceremony marks the completion of this $3.25 million project and the reopening of this portion of 98th Street.

District 5 Council member Randy Christian stated, “The paving of 98th Street between Milwaukee and Upland Avenues is an important transportation improvement that was badly needed. The project provides Lubbock drivers with better public access, improved public safety, and it improves drainage for this corridor. As this District’s Representative on the City Council, I believe it is important to recognize this significant transportation improvement. I also want to thank Karen Gibson, my predecessor on the City Council, for her hard work on this project prior to her departure from the City Council.”
