Major Road Work at 82nd Street and Frankford Avenue Intersection

Beginning Monday, October 22, Atmos Energy and its contractors will begin a utility construction project at the intersection of 82nd Street and Frankford Avenue, causing significant disruptions to pedestrian and vehicular traffic. The project is scheduled to take six weeks, weather permitting.

For the duration of the project, speed limits will be reduced to 35 MPH with lane reductions on all approaches. To reduce delays for all traffic at the intersection, no left turns will be allowed. Left turning traffic will be required to follow detours through the surrounding neighborhoods utilizing other traffic signals.

Citizens are encouraged to plan ahead and avoid peak traffic times to minimize delays. The traffic control is necessary for the safety of the workers and the traveling public, and the City of Lubbock will continually monitor conditions making signal timing adjustments as needed.
