Open House: 2018 Strategic Water Supply Plan

 Water Utilities Open House: 2018 Strategic Water Supply Plan

The City of Lubbock will host an Open House on Tuesday, December 18 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. to discuss the new 2018 Strategic Water Supply Plan. The meeting will take place at the Science Spectrum located at 2579 South Loop 289.

During the event, city staff will provide a brief overview of the Strategic Water Supply Plan. The presentation will cover proposed options for continuing to provide water to Lubbock over the next 100 years. After the presentation, citizens will be able to interact with city staff and ask questions about Lubbock’s water supply.

The City encourages citizens to attend, take advantage of the opportunity to learn more about Lubbock’s future water supplies and provide feedback. The Strategic Water Supply Plan can be viewed at mylubbock.us/strategicwatersupplyplan. The City’s water supply planning goals include:

  • Providing a roadmap to develop and implement cost-effective and sustainable water supplies over the next 100-years;
  • Diversifying the City’s water supply portfolio to minimize risk associated with variable climate conditions and vulnerabilities associated with each water supply. Diversification strategies include implementing multiple groundwater, surface water and reclaimed water supplies to create a more reliable, sustainable, and resilient system; and
  • Emphasizing water conservation efforts to delay expensive water supply projects.
