Level Up Like King Youth Event

The HEARD Coalition, in partnership with community sponsors, is proud to announce a special community empowerment event in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. The event will take place at the YWCA of Lubbock, located at 6501 University, on MLK Day, Monday, January 19, 2026.

Open to students in grades 6-12, the event will feature inspiring discussions, interactive activities, and a community pledge centered around leadership, unity, and positive change—values championed by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Activities will run from 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., with lunch provided for all participants.

Attendees will have the chance to win exciting raffle prizes, connect with fellow youth, and develop leadership skills to make a positive impact in their schools and communities. This initiative seeks to uplift and empower youth from Lubbock and the surrounding region.

The HEARD Coalition is managed by Lubbock Public Health through a grant from Texas Health and Human Services. HEARD is a group of community members from across sectors to identify local gaps in adolescent mental health and substance use services, support youth as they navigate challenges and strengthen the protective factors present in the community.
