Road Closures Scheduled for Monday

In anticipation of large gatherings in and around Texas Tech campus, several road closures have been scheduled for pedestrian safety.

At 6 p.m., Broadway Avenue between Avenue U and University Avenue will be shut down. LPD is asking anyone who is parked in this area to begin moving their vehicles by 5 p.m. No traffic or parking will be allowed in this area.

At 10 p.m., University will be shut down from Marsha Sharp Freeway to 15th Street. Southbound traffic on University will be diverted to Glenna Goodacre while northbound traffic will be forced to turn east at 15th Street. Avenue X will also be shut down from Glenna Goodacre to 15th Street.

LPD is asking drivers to put away all distractions and be on the lookout for barricades and officers who will be blocking roads and directing traffic.

While these closures will prohibit traffic and parking, LPD is still encouraging pedestrians to be careful and be aware of their surroundings as they walk to the Broadway establishments.
