Metropolitan Planning Organization/Loop 88 Funding Announcement

The Lubbock Metropolitan Planning Organization (LMPO) will hold a news conference announcing funding for a portion of the construction of Loop 88, in South Lubbock. The event is at 11:30 a.m., on Wednesday, September 25, 2019, at 130^th Street and Indiana Avenue (United Supermarket).

LMPO is a federally mandated organization developed to coordinate the highway, transit and land use planning process in order to receive federal funds for highway and transit improvements. LMPO is comprised of representatives from City of Lubbock, Lubbock County, City of Wolfforth, Texas Department of Transportation and Citibus.

The proposed Lubbock Outer Loop was designated as State Loop 88 in July 2017 by the Texas Transportation Commission. When completed, the Loop 88 freeway corridor will provide a non-stop route connecting drivers traveling though Lubbock County, and the city of Lubbock, from US 84 near Shallowater to US 84 just west of Slaton.
