Mayor Mark McBrayer shared a statement regarding recent news about 4th on Broadway event:
“I am committed to finding a way to keep Lubbock’s 4th on Broadway going. I’m thankful for the late Don Caldwell and Broadway Festivals, Inc. for hosting this event for 34 years, and I’m grateful for the many people who reached out to me the past few days expressing their support to continue our cherished tradition and the largest free festival in Texas.
The City of Lubbock has a rich history with 4th on Broadway, and we’re exploring ways to ensure this celebration happens in 2025.
Lubbock’s 4th on Broadway is about celebrating our nation’s freedom. The parade, music, fishing, fireworks, eating contest, and everything else makes for a great community event. I cannot imagine a 4th of July without gathering as a community. I think we’ll be able to come up with a plan to keep it going, and we encourage your support and ideas.”
